I have a 12.9 inch iPad Pro that I have been trying to fit into my workflow so it is not just a pretty way to read magazines or play solitaire.
I had a current 13″ MacBook Pro sitting around unused.
I defined why I thought I needed the MacBook Pro. It was to:
- transfer video and photo files from SD cards for backup specifically when travelling.
- view video projects with clients at their office or on location.
The iPad Pro has 100GB of free memory. I bought an Apple “Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader” for $35 and tried backing up files to the iPad Pro. It works. Insert the SD card and you are prompted to backup your files.
I sold the MacBook Pro the next day and have not missed it since.
As an aside, the Apple Pencil used with the iPad Pro allows me to continue to attempt to sketch trees as well as Van Gogh.
And for some industrial design projects I’m working on the Apple Pencil is brilliant.
