Touch Once

When I’m folding laundry I think of my dean at Emily Carr.

I was in his office and asked how he dealt with the piles of paper that sat on his desk, and the demand on his time for each.

He had just returned from a course on efficiency and was told to never touch a piece of paper twice. Once you touch it you commit to dealing with it to completion.

I touch my clothes twice when folding them. I like to put them in piles of similar items, then return to each pile to fold. The alternative method would be to fold each item as you pick it up.

I’m not sure if one method is more efficient than the other but I prefer mine.
